Building a professional online storefront used to mean one of two things: hire a developer and spend thousands, or use a template and look like everyone else on the same template.
Neither option is good enough for merchants who take their brand seriously but don't have a development budget. That's the gap Store Builder Blocks is designed to close.
Today we're walking through what Store Builder Blocks is, how it works, and what it means for merchants who want full control over how their store looks without writing a single line of code.
The problem with how most store builders work
Most no-code store builders give you a fixed set of page templates. You pick one, fill in your products and logo, and you're done. The result is a store that functions, but looks identical to every other merchant who picked the same template from the same library.
Customisation is usually possible, but limited. You can change colours, swap images, and rearrange a handful of pre-defined sections. Anything more involved a custom homepage layout, a unique product page structure, a landing page that doesn't match any of the provided templates requires either compromising your vision or calling a developer.
- Choose from a fixed template library
- Limited to pre-defined section layouts
- Customisation hits a wall without code
- Every merchant on the same template looks the same
- New page types require developer involvement
- Brand identity constrained by what the template allows
- Build any layout from composable blocks
- Sections and blocks combine in any order
- Full design control with no code required
- Every store can look genuinely different
- New page types built in minutes, not days
- Brand identity expressed without compromise
How Store Builder Blocks works
Store Builder Blocks uses a three-layer architecture Templates, Sections, and Blocks that gives you complete flexibility while keeping the building process logical and manageable.
The logic is straightforward: Templates contain Sections, and Sections contain Blocks. You drag, drop, and configure at each layer to build exactly what you want. Nothing is locked every element can be moved, resized, replaced, or removed.
What you can build
The block library covers everything a merchant needs to build a complete, professional storefront. Here's a breakdown of the available block types:
The block library is growing. New blocks are added regularly based on merchant feedback. If there's a block type you need that isn't listed here, let us know the most-requested additions are prioritised first.
Building your first page: the workflow
- 1 Choose or create a template. Start from a pre-built template for your page type homepage, product page, collection, landing page or start with a blank canvas. Templates are a starting point, not a constraint.
- 2 Add sections. Drag sections from the library into your template in whatever order you want. Each section represents a distinct content zone your hero at the top, a product grid below it, a testimonials row below that.
- 3 Add blocks to each section. Inside each section, add and arrange blocks. An image-text section might contain an image block on the left and a text block plus button block on the right. Every element is independently configurable.
- 4 Configure each block. Click any block to open its settings panel. Change the image, edit the text, adjust the padding, pick a background colour. Every block has a full settings panel with sensible defaults that you can override completely.
- 5 Preview and publish. Preview your page on desktop and mobile before publishing. When you're happy, publish it live no waiting for a developer to deploy your changes.
How it connects to the rest of Stratum
Store Builder Blocks isn't a standalone page builder bolted onto the platform. It's integrated with the rest of Stratum so your storefront stays in sync with your operations.
-
Live product data. Product blocks pull live inventory and pricing from your Stratum catalogue. When stock runs out or a price changes, your storefront updates automatically no manual edits required.
-
Theme Manager. Your Store Builder pages inherit your active theme fonts, colours, and brand styles apply sitewide. Change your theme, and every page updates. No rebuilding individual pages when you refresh your brand.
-
Checkout integration. Add-to-cart and checkout flow from Store Builder pages connects directly to Stratum's order management. Every sale through your storefront flows into OmniOrders automatically.
-
SEO settings per page. Every page built in Store Builder has its own SEO settings meta title, description, canonical URL, and Open Graph data editable without touching any code.
What this means in practice: You build the storefront once. Stratum keeps it accurate. When you update a product, run a promotion, or change your pricing, your store reflects those changes without you having to go back and edit every page where that product appears.
Who Store Builder Blocks is designed for
Store Builder Blocks is built for merchants who have a clear idea of how they want their store to look and feel, but don't have the technical skills or the budget to make it happen through custom development.
If you've ever looked at a competitor's store and thought "I want mine to look like that, but my template won't let me do it" Store Builder Blocks is for you. If you've ever had to wait days for a developer to make a simple layout change Store Builder Blocks is for you. And if you've ever had to compromise your brand vision because the tools available couldn't express it Store Builder Blocks is for you.
It's also designed to grow with your business. The same tool that lets you build your first homepage also supports complex multi-section landing pages for product launches, seasonal campaigns, and wholesale catalogues. You don't outgrow it.
The bottom line
Your store is the most visible expression of your brand. It's where first impressions are formed and where purchasing decisions are made. The quality of that experience matters not just in terms of how fast the page loads or how easy the checkout is, but in terms of whether the store looks and feels like a brand worth buying from.
Store Builder Blocks gives you the control to build that experience yourself, on your own timeline, without needing to know how to code or budget for a developer every time you want to make a change.
It's available now, inside your Stratum dashboard.
